Frequently asked questions
Why weld plastic?
At Fjordblink Plastic we employ three different welding methods. The method we use for your product depends on the product’s purpose and the type of plastic the product is made from.
The weldable area on plastic blanks with dielectrical properties is clamped together and subjected to a high frequency magnetic field (of 13 to 100 MHz). The blanks remain clamped together until they have cooled down.
Heat welding is used to weld together two pieces of the same type of plastic. Two or more layers of thermoplastic foil are placed on top of one another. The heat plates are then placed in direct contact with the plastic foil at a specific pressure. The two or more layers of plastic will be melted together where the heat plates make contact with the foil. This welding method is used with many different types of foil for many different purposes.
This method of welding can be used to weld together two or more layers of thermoplastic foil. The machine’s welding jaws lock around the foil at a specific pressure, clamping it together. A short pulse of electrical current is then transmitted through the welding wire, melting the layers together, and the pressure is maintained while the weld cools. Impulse welding is a strong, neat and fast method of welding.

How do we proceed?
The first step is of course to contact us and tell us your ideas and your requirements. We will then propose solutions based on our many years of practical experience in the field.
You will then receive a product description/design by e-mail, and this will form the basis of a meeting at which we establish the finer details of how we go about putting your product together.
Once this has been established, the work of product development and manufacturing commences, all in close cooperation with you.
We deliver the product on the agreed date to the agreed standard.

What type of plastic do you recommend?
The choice of plastic depends of course on the product it is to be used for. The specific nature of the product will place technical demands on the foil, such as:
Together we will find the right type of plastic for your product. We are happy to advise you in making this decision.

What is the shortest production run you offer?
In theory we can offer very short runs, but in order to keep the unit price reasonable it is best as a rule to order a larger run.
Can you manufacture my product in a cleanroom?
We do not have a cleanroom at our production facilities, and therefore cannot produce plastic products for which a cleanroom is a stipulated requirement. You are of course always welcome to contact us if you need sparring and guidance. It may be the case that we are able to help you with your special requirements after all.
